They commonly use lithium or nickel metal hydride batteries, and can go between 40 and 100 miles between charges.

It takes, on average, two to three hours to fully charge an electric motorcycle versus the five minutes it takes to fuel a gas motorcycle. The jury is out on whether a quieter bike is a better bike. Some argue that the loud motor on a gas bike is a safety tool, alerting motorists and pedestrians to its presence. Others say that the quieter electric bike is better at preventing the high decibel sound that can lead to hearing loss with gas bikes.

Electric bikes are easier to maintain, and owners find that their ongoing maintenance costs are half that of gas bikes. While the initial cost of the electric motorcycle is 

higher than that of the gas motorcycle, they are less expensive over time.

People who own garages find it easy to charge up their electric motorcycles without ever having to leave home. This means that they can simply charge and go, rarely having to stop at a service station during their trips.

The electric motorcycle lacks a clutch and gear transmission, meaning it accelerates almost immediately with no hesitation. Because of this, many people prefer them to gas when it comes to sport driving.
